Our friend Felix/Gatecrasher/Generator/Crosbystillsandnash sent me a link earlier to the Titan Sentinel+ Extractor.

This handy little program extracts tons of good info about your characters to an XML file. Here's what the creators say about it:

Quote:
The Sentinel+ Extractor character export tool is used to export the character you are currently logged in as, including your character's name, server, powersets and slotting, inventories (enhancements, salvage, inspirations, influence/infamy, etc.), costumes, and other data. A complete snapshot of the character is created in XML format and includes a cryptographic checksum to ensure data integrity.

Why get a tombstone that just has your loved one's name when you can get a photo on it as well!

Thanks for the find, Felix!

Sure thing, man! Personally I think of it less like a tombstone and more like cryogenic suspension (with more of a chance of actually waking up than Ted Williams ever had), but whatever works! Smile

Everybody to the lifeboats!

One more point to make here...

What are the odds that this data will be usable at some point down the road to restore characters after the game goes dark?  Who knows; I sure don't, anyway.  But this utility was so ridiculously easy to use, I had it DL'ed, installed, and used in under a minute, and that was with my son squirming away in my lap.  If you remember the "Four Currencies" blog post Marqaha linked to a few months ago, using this is negligible on all four costs.  So why not?  I can't imagine this actually working, but a week ago, I couldn't imagine this even being necessary, so who knows...?

Later on,

Gate

If you have to "Run as admin" for the game itself, you have to for this program, too. Beyond that, without knowing specifics, no idea why it's not working for you.

This is awesome! After looking at the XML, especially on my one badger character, I was quite surprised at the internal names of some of the badges. And it was fun to see the origins of the prestige sprints.

I suspect someone in the community will construct some sort of display program, since Sentinel saves everything, including all your current costumes. Awesome squared.

V1.1 is out.  Save your temp powers!

  • Fixed a bug that attempted to save files using special characters reserved on Windows file systems. The filename (which includes the global handle and character name) will now convert all of the following characters into underscores: \ / : * ? ' " < > |
  • Temporary and Inherent Powers are now exported.
  • Builds with zero powers (i.e., have never been selected) are no longer exported.
  • Newlines in the output files are now CR/LF rather than only LF. (Primarily benefits people viewing exports in Notepad.)
  • The code was reorganized and simlified, and is now slightly smaller.
